There’s a certain rush, an excitement, of being surrounded by the unfamiliar. Something much different than your daily routine. For some it’s a white sand beach, for others it’s sitting at a restaurant full of foreign smells and languages.
This is what awe is for me. When we’re in the presence of something that challenges the way we understand the world, but at the same time let’s us step back and take it all in. I believe these moments are essential to the human experience.
Sometimes it reminds you of priorities, helps you appreciate the smaller things in life, or even forces you to grow. These are the experiences I want from travel, the ones that offer some type of connectedness — to ourselves, and to others.
